Privacy Policy
This policy explains how we process personal data when you use the BetChat app and this website. We process data in line with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and German data protection law.

2. What data we process
- Account data: email address, username, display name, profile picture, bio, app language and selected interests. If you sign in with Apple or Google we receive the email address (or Apple’s relay address) and, if you allow it, your name.
- Social data: who you follow and who follows you, follow requests, and users you blocked.
- Game data: bets you create, your positions (side and stake), your coin balance and coin history (ledger), XP, levels, streaks, badges, likes and comments.
- Messages: content of 1:1 and group chats, including bets shared in chats.
- Safety data: reports you submit or that concern your content, disputes and moderation decisions.
- Notifications: in-app notifications and, if you allow push, a push token and basic device information (device type, OS version, app version, language, time zone).
- Advertising: if you watch a rewarded video to get coins, Google AdMob processes your device’s advertising identifier only if you consented (on iOS via App Tracking Transparency); otherwise non-personalised ads are shown.
- Technical data: IP address and request logs processed by our hosting providers to deliver the service and keep it secure.
3. Purposes and legal bases
- Providing the app, your account, the coin game, chats and notifications in the app: performance of our contract with you (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR).
- Push notifications and personalised ads: your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR), which you can withdraw at any time in your device settings.
- Security, preventing abuse and coin farming, moderating content and handling reports: our legitimate interest in a safe and fair service (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
- Complying with legal obligations, e.g. responding to authorities: Art. 6(1)(c) GDPR.
4. Automated checks by AI
When you create a bet, its title, description, category and dates are sent to Anthropic’s Claude API, which checks whether the bet is a clear, verifiable yes/no question about a future event and may suggest a corrected version. After the event, the bet’s question and public information about the event are sent again to determine the result. No account data (such as your email or username) is sent. The results are automated and can be wrong; if the AI cannot verify a result, the creator decides and other players can dispute that decision, which refunds all stakes. These automated steps do not produce legal effects for you within the meaning of Art. 22 GDPR, because coins have no monetary value.
5. Recipients and processors
We use the following service providers, bound by data processing agreements:
- Supabase (database, authentication, file storage, server functions) – hosted in the EU (Frankfurt, Germany).
- Anthropic (Claude API for checking and settling bets) – USA; transfers based on the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.
- OneSignal (push notifications) – USA; EU Standard Contractual Clauses.
- Google AdMob (rewarded ads) – USA/Ireland; EU Standard Contractual Clauses / EU-US Data Privacy Framework.
- Google Firebase Cloud Messaging (delivery of push notifications on Android) – via OneSignal.
- Resend (welcome email) – USA; EU Standard Contractual Clauses.
- Apple and Google (only if you use Sign in with Apple or Google).
- Vercel (hosting of this website) – USA; EU Standard Contractual Clauses.
Other users see what you make public: your profile, public bets, comments, likes, positions on public bets and leaderboard stats. Chats and chat bets are visible only to the members of that chat.
6. Retention
We keep your data as long as your account exists. You can delete your account at any time in the app (Settings → Delete account); this immediately and permanently deletes your profile, bets, positions, comments, messages, likes, coins and all related data. Reports concerning abuse may be kept for up to 12 months to protect other users. Backups are overwritten on a rolling basis. Server logs are kept only briefly.
7. Your rights
You have the right to access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability and to object to processing based on legitimate interests. You can withdraw consent at any time with effect for the future. To exercise your rights, email support@getbetchat.app. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority, in particular in the EU member state of your residence.
8. Minimum age
BetChat is intended for people aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly process data of minors; if you believe a minor uses BetChat, please contact us.
9. This website
This website does not use cookies, tracking or analytics. Fonts are served from our own server; no data is sent to Google Fonts. Our host Vercel processes access data (IP address, time, requested page) to deliver the website.
10. Changes
We may update this policy when the app changes. The current version is always available here and in the app.
